Heavy snowfall coming for round two in Canmore, Kananaskis

A second round of snowfall is expected for Canmore and Kananaskis bringing a predicted 30 to 50 cm of snow.

BOW VALLEY - A second round of snowfall is expected for Canmore and Kananaskis bringing a predicted 30 to 50 cm of snow.

The warning, issued by Environment Canada, says snow is expected to begin tonight through to Wednesday (May 1) with it coming to a slow in the evening, and tapering off Thursday evening (May 2) with flurries and a chance of rain.

In the weather statement, Environment Canada warns of visibility being reduced suddenly at times and travel being difficult in some locations.

It also said to take breaks when clearing snow to avoid strain.

The first warning issued on Monday (April 29) included Lake Louise and Banff, however, the continued warning is not in effect for both areas.

Sunshine and warm temperatures are predicted to follow the large snowstorm, starting Friday (May 4) which will have a high of 10 degrees Celsius in Canmore.
